On November 18, 2008 at the University Club of New York City, the 2008 Templeton Enterprise Awards conferred second prize on Luigino Bruni, author of Civil Happiness: Economics and Human Flourishing in Historical Perspective.

Given annually to the best publications on the culture of enterprise, the prestigious Enterprise Award is designed to encourage young scholars (40 years old or younger at the time of publication) to explore and illuminate the process by which economics and culture are related throughout the world.
Associate Professor in Economics at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Bruni, 42, resides in Marino on the outskirts of Rome, Italy. He is member of the Focolare’s International Commission of the Economy of Communion (edc-online.org). His latest book, published in December by Oxford University Press, is Capabilities & Happiness.
